I am hoping to add some new posts. Got lot to talk about. Some changes in my life that I might talk about. Recently bought another domain name which I might move this blog over to. I wrote a lot a few years ago on other websites so I figured I should put everything I write on one site. I just started building it today so it’s not ready. Just wanted to say hey and hi and all that. Later!

It’s 2010 and things have changed. I haven’t updated this blog in so long. I’ve been checking on all my domain names and social networks this week. I am planning on updating some and adding more features to others. I am liking that I can update wordpress automaticaly now. I hated updating it before because I would need to save all the plugins and themes I custom made and added it to the new update. Sometimes things would break. Just the time to backup everything and moving files all over the place made it hard to the point I hated updating.

Last year I lost some stuff I loved. I lost my favorite radio station, KLSX. I lost some podcasts I liked listening to also. My credit card decided to raise their rates which really is hurting me now. I need to ask for them to drop the rates. Sigh! The local popeyes I used to go to all the time has been closed. Arghhhh!! My non work computer decided to cause me problems so I had to reinstall windows due to a hard drive failure. I didn’t lose too much, though. Been worried about family health problems but things have seemed to be going well now. Had to go to jury duty twice. One federal and the other local.

Not everything is bad. Puente Hills mall has an Imax theater but not really a huge screen which is a disapointment. I have been experimenting with youtube videos with some accounts I have. I am getting good feedback, views and subscriptions. Some of those videos had enough views that I was offered a partnership but those videos weren’t family oriented so I was denied. I am going to try to do some videos on my personal account and see if I can get a partnership. Not sure what I want to do with it. I am not an actor, singer or comedian. I’ve been thinking of doing reviews for products or websites. Maybe making videos with second life or LOTRO can be interesting.

I don’t listen to radio anymore unless I am driving. I usually put on a music station. The only two talk radio stations I can listen to are, KFI and KABC. Recently Tim Conway Jr. moved back to Los Angeles and has his own show on KFI. If you haven’t listened to him before you really should! Frosty, Heidi and frank have thier own show on KABC in the mornings. They are hilarious!! I listen to their podcast as much as I can. I only listen to podcasts now. Here are the podcasts I love and recommend: PGP, Keri Kasem and FHF. There are some other podcasts which are good on Hottalkla but I don’t have the time to listen to them all.

This year I am going to push myself as hard as possible with my business. I really need to make more money from it or start looking for something else to do. I also want to make sure I am there for my family and friends. That is so important now more then ever to me. I don’t want to make any more mistakes or lose contact with friends again. I haven’t been playing online games as much as I used to. I love the freedom of doing what I want and being available for family and friends now. No more scheduling around raids or drama in an online world anymore.

Wow I’m sitting here going through the deaths of some popular people and feel sad about it. Kind of wakes me up that life is something very important. I’m glad for the friends I have and the ones I got back in contact with. Plenty of changes in my life this year and things are looking up. Getting in contact with some friends from high school and grade school was important to make me feel better about life. I’ve always been a person who put friends and family over anything. I would do anything for my friends.

Watching some of Billy Mays infomercials really brought back some great memories. His new show was actually interesting and good. Reading a letter from his best friend Anthony Sullivan really put friendships in perspective for me. Sorry to see him go. Michael Jackson’s death was a great surprise too and will be missed. Hope the scandals won’t make things worse for his children and family. Was a great artist and changed our lives for the better.

I‘m still listening to all the podcasts which have started up from the demise of 97.1 radio station. Lot of changes there and plenty of drama. I still listen to Frosty, Heidi and Frank’s podcast. I’ve also started to listen to the Pretty Good Podcast which is actually pretty good. Might check out more if I can find some good ones. I want to have fun and laugh while I work. Thanks to all the fun podcasts out there! Check out Fake Leykis Podcast too. One of the funniest impressionist I’ve heard and I love his Rick Dees impression. Best of luck to you, Brian Whitman.

I used to play a game called Lord of the rings online every day. My friend and I would play together and share stuff in the game with each other for almost a whole year. I really got hooked with the PVP, Player vs Player, where I can play a spider and fight other people. That has changed with the last update. It made the creep side a bit too easy and the freep side is struggling now. Not much fun when there are no fights. Maybe in the future it will get better but I’m taking a break from it.

The PVE side of this game doesn’t give me much hope too. The kinship I am in lost some good friends I had so all I do is log in for the raids so I can help out. I already lost a great friendship to this game and I’ve lost some of my new friends as well. The Kinship I am in just isn’t the same without those people I got to know these past months. I never would believe a virtual game can be so emotional and make things so difficult in real life. A break from it will be good and lot of other people have decided to do the same. I bought a lifetime membership to the game so I’ll be back just hope everything gets better.

I found a new search engine that uses an interesting idea. When you first go to the website, msdewey.com, you are greeted by a woman avatar. When you search for terms she will say different things according to what you search for. Janina Gavankar is the model who plays the avatar and really makes this project unique and sexy! The search results come from microsoft live and it seems like it’s a test from microsoft to have some fun. This site isn’t very useful but it shows what can be done in the future. I still search with google. If you want to see some of the funnier stuff that this avatar will do then type in the following for your search terms [Updated 10/26/06]:

halo 2
murder
ho
Janina Gavankar
how to fight a ninja
what is your name
how to do the robot
george bush
storm
How old are you
dick cheney
what are you

If you ever found yourself trying to make a web page with matching colors then I found something for you. It’s called colorMatch Remix! Sometimes when I am building a web page or doing graphic work I find myself using weird colors together. I don’t have a good eye on what colors go with other colors. I constantly find myself going a bit too crazy with the colors. When I found this site I bookmarked it quickly and figured I should post it here for anyone else who needs this help. You just pick a favorite color and it will give you back 6 other colors that will match the original color. Really nice and I’ll be using it from now on!

These past months I have been playing games in a virtual world called Second Life. It’s not exactly a game because there is no goal. It’s mostly a platform where users can create anything they want with the tools provided. I signed up at the beginning of this year and have been satisfied with it. I am on their free account which allows you to log in as much as you want, use anything in the game except for owning land. If you want land then you must pay for their premium account which is $9.95 per month.

It’s hard to explain how much you can do inside the game unless you try it. Here’s an article from business week about second life. It will explain a lot to the new users. Some of the games I have played inside second life are, Slingo, Tringo, Blackjack, Slot machines, War and Quintzee. All these games have been created from regular users. There are plenty of other games that I haven’t played yet and more are being created all the time. You can also buy cars, planes, clothes, furniture and gadgets for your avatar inside the virtual world. The one thing that makes this world different than others is you can buy Lindens(game money) with real money and you can sell Lindens for real money. This brings in some business minded people. Some ways of making money in the game is creating objects that others would buy, making scripts for games or vehicles, buying lindens at a low price and selling them for a high price, buying land to place games on and making money from them when people play and escorts or stripping. Yes this is a mature platform and can be used for anything that is legal. No one under 18 can sign up and use second life unless they use the teen grid which is not connected to the mature grid at all. In the mature grid there are PG places also so not all of it is adult.

I’ve been using second life for entertainment. There are some singers and musicians who play live in certain places. These aren’t wannabe singers. They are very professional and give a great entertainment value. I also play the games for fun too. I haven’t found a business plan for myself in the game just yet but still thinking all the time. I use the name, JohnnyRS Hoggard, in the game. Join up and have fun for free or pay for some nice privileges.

There have been a couple of times I needed to find stuff on my computer fast! The windows searching capabilities are terrible. Bad Microsoft! I tried Google Desktop a little while ago and I liked it but rarely ever used it. I keep forgetting I have it installed. So When I heard about the new Google Desktop I needed to try it. It now has a docking capability that has plugins that can add other benefits. I have a 19in monitor so I can give up desktop space. I actually have two monitors with two computers on my desk so I can easily give up space on one of my monitors.
I‘ve been happy with Yahoo’s [tag]Konfabulator[/tag] with it’s widgets. Some widgets from there are very useful like website monitor and a timer. One thing it doesn’t have is a way to dock them to the side of the desktop. I don’t like having to resize my windows so I can see the widgets. I don’t want to see a widget over something I am trying to read. Now if [tag]google desktop[/tag] had more plugins like the widgets from yahoo it would be perfect for me. So at this time I can see some benefits to [tag]Google[/tag] desktop but it’s not exactly what I need at this time. I will keep using Konfabulator and google desktop as just a searching capability for now.

I love [tag]Role Playing Games[/tag] and free games are the best. I remember being on a boy scout camping trip and some of us played [tag]dungeons and dragons[/tag]. That was the first time I ever learned about role playing games. Then I found the Internet where [tag]MUDS[/tag] were the big things. These were text based only. No graphics at all. When I found a local BBS with a very good [tag]RPG[/tag] I knew I was hooked. This one was called [tag]Tele-Arena[/tag] and spent days leveling up my character. The best part of most of these games is the fact you can join others to play. But sometimes I like playing by myself like [tag]Diablo[/tag].

I recently found a game called [tag]runescape[/tag]. Played it for days also and have a good character now. It’s a fun game with plenty of adventures. Some of these online games have added features by paying. I like that very much. I haven’t bought a Online RPG game or payed monthly for one yet. [tag]Everquest[/tag] would probably be fun but paying monthly to play it will just make me addicted and less willing to stop. I rather play the free games and when I find one that I love then I can pay for added benefits when I can.

Here is a link to some free RPG games. I still haven’t tried all these games but I will try them soon. Maybe I’ll write some reviews of them later.

Many years ago I found a TV Program called “Call for Help” on Techtv. This program taught me a lot and was a great show to tell others about. It’s a show that really made the complicated world of technology and computers as easy as possible. Viewers would call in to get help with their computer problems. It was a fun show even if they talked about stuff that I already knew about.
One day G4 and Techtv merged but dropped “Call for help” on their cable network. They also dropped lot of other good shows as well. I stopped watching G4techtv and never came back. Leo Laporte was the host of the show when it was on Techtv. Little after the merge “Call for help” was showing on G4techtv up in Canada but not here in America. I was glad Leo was still doing the show but really wanted to watch the show. Recently I found out the show is coming back to America and going to be shown on G4tv . This is fantastic and I might start watching G4 again but I still have a bad taste in my mouth. This show should have been in the lineup at the beginning of the merge not after all this time. Well maybe some of the better Techtv hosts and shows will be returned also. My guess would be No.

Quote From Leo Laporte himself:

Starting August 29 CFH will be on G4 weekdays at 11a Eastern/8a Pacific and weekends at 6 and 7a Eastern. If enough of you watch I’m sure we’ll be able to move to a better spot in the schedule.

Couple of times I’ll go into the yahoo chats and see what is up. Recently the user created [tag]chat rooms[/tag] have been down. This action was probably because of a report on a TV station about chat rooms geared to pedophilia. I feel it is good for them to pay more attention in this area. They let things go for way too long. I remember noticing those chat rooms many years ago when my nieces were looking to chat on the internet. I’m glad the sponsors finally pulled the plug but they should have checked where their ads were in the first place.

The only sad thing about this is other non sexual chat rooms were shut down also. It’s been over a week now and haven’t seen any changed yet. Hope they will bring the chat rooms back. Was a good place to chat with others instead of going through [tag]IRC[/tag]. IRC has been around for years, ever since the internet was born. It’s a good chat interface but not a lot of every day folks find it. When the MSN chat rooms closed a couple of years ago, everyone went to the yahoo rooms. They are perfect because it’s on the Yahoo messenger. Easy to access. That was the problem because it allowed children easy access and the predators came as well. Yahoo should just have a couple people checking rooms all the time. People who create bad rooms can get banned. It’s easy. I use to help out on a family oriented board and had to be always aware of who is who. I’m sure Yahoo can hire some people to check the room names at least.

Lot of places on the internet want you to sign up with an email address. There are far too many places that use the email address as a way to spam! You’ll find all the details in their TOS so that’s how they get away with it. I do understand why an email adress is important because it gives the perception that there is an actual human being signing up. But I actually got fed up getting so much [tag]spam[/tag] so I started to look for other ways of dealing with this problem. There are places on the internet called disposable emails.
One such place is called Spambob.com. I used them a while ago signing up to a newspaper from another state. I just recently found Spamgourmet.com and find them very useful. You can have email addresses that you can just forget about it after using it once or you can keep it as your email for spam. It’s a great idea and wanted to share it with everyone. Another site is KasMail.com and Spamex.com which actually has a browser install also.
Of course you can always use the regular free email services on the internet like yahoo.com, gmail.google.com, and hotmail.com. But the [tag]disposable email[/tag] are a lot easier to use for signing up to something you just want to use for a day or so.

[tag]Synergy[/tag] is a [tag]software[/tag] that I recently found which allows me to use two computers with one keyboard and mouse. A sort of [tag]KM switch[/tag] without the wires. It works over your home network passing the mouse and keyboard info to the other computer via network. When I move the mouse off one screen it switches to the other computer. Exactly the way it works with two monitors on one computer if using windows XP. In theory one can have more than 2 computers. In the management area it has 4 possible positions for the monitors. I was all ready to buy myself a KM switch but this works even better than the ones I was looking at. I can easily copy and paste text between two computers. NOW that’s impressive!

This is a great example of a news story that looks real but it’s not. I fell for it until I did some research. Here is the link that started it all:

Link

The page looks authentic. The story seems so extreme that my first reaction this has to be a joke. Then it looked so real that I figured it must be true. With all the happenings going on around the world I thought this could be true. Some will believe completely a story from a person and not even question it. For me I’ve always been skeptical about things. Especially now I can look up almost anything on the Internet to find out if it’s a myth or real. I was checking out the urban legends page and found the story about the lion story I saw before.

Lion in Wait [tag]False Story[/tag]

With the disclaimer recently put on the page it’s obvious a fake. By looking at the URL you can come to the conclusion that this might not be true. Doing a search on the [tag]BBC news[/tag] site might have been a way to find out if this story was true also. So remember this next time you see a story that seems hard to believe on the Internet. Phis-hing web sites should be a reason to ALWAYS check that the site you’re at is the REAL one! Now I saw the story link on a forum so I didn’t visit it by accident or from a reliable source. Still I wonder how did it get spread in the first place…

I like trying new things out so when I heard about a new [tag]yahoo messenger[/tag] I had to try it. Now there are many things I hate about it and some interesting things. They are trying to get into the phone calling area. Now I haven’t tried there net2phone or the Call Computer stuff just yet. I’ll try the call computer when I can find someone who installed the beta version also. That is the biggest problem I found. All the added features are not compatible to the older versions. I can’t use the voice capability anymore. Their is a cool feature that one can drag and drop pictures in the message window and it will transfer it to the other person. Now that is cool but I of course can’t try it unless the other person has that capability. Now I am all for more features but please give the capability to work with the older versions. I have to go back to the older version so I can use voice chat. ugh. I’ll try it later when more people update or when they have every feature in the current version working in their beta version.

It’s 2005 finally. Another Year and more work. [tag]Christmas[/tag] day was fun. [tag]New years[/tag] was a non event but that’s ok. Played some new games I got. [tag]Roller coaster 3[/tag] is a lot of fun but it does take a little to get used to. Can be hard if you don’t update right away! Now I got the basic process to win some of the scenarios and it’s getting easier. I got [tag]Sims 2[/tag] also and It’s interesting but haven’t played it fully yet. Looks promising but lot of time to figure things out which I don’t have. I took a week break from work so now this week I’m prepared to work non stop.
I have a new niece and was born last week. That’s going to be fun getting to know another person in the family. Lot of things changed for good and bad last year so I hope this year will continue with the good. My best wishes for everyone in the world including the Tsunami victims. I still can hardly believe how devasting it was. Shows how much power water can give. Never underestimate the power of water!

OK, This game has to be one of my favorite games. Think the last game that I had so much fun was “Kingdom Hearts.” Half Life 2 has a great story. The graphics are amazing. The Physics of the game is astonishing. I could use almost everything in the game as a weapon or a throwing toy. I loved when I got the gravity gun. Picked up stuff and threw it at the monsters. When I got to the vehicle parts I thought this is exactly the game I always wanted to play. Haven’t finished the game yet but I am almost at the end.
